PURPOSE: A composition containing piperine is provided to treat and preventing inflammatory diseases by suppressing inflammatory response. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating inflammation contains piperine of chemical formula 1 or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The inflammatory disease includes skin inflammation, acute/chronic eczema, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, solar dermatitis, solar burn or acne. The piperine is isolated from long Pepper, black pepper, cubeb, or Dill(Anethum graveolens).본 발명은 피페린의 신규한 용도에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 피페린 또는 이의 약학적으로 허용가능한 염을 유효성분으로 포함하는 염증성 질환의 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물 또는 염증 예방 및 개선용 식품 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명은 피페린의 신규한 용도로서, 피페린 또는 이의 약학적으로 허용가능한 염을 유효성분으로 포함하는 염증성 질환 예방 및 치료용 조성물을 제공한다. 본 발명의 피페린을 포함하는 조성물은 LPS에 의해서 유발되는 염증반응을 효과적으로 억제하므로 염증성 질환의 예방 및 치료를 위하여 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다.
