PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for applying carbon dioxide which can semipermanently supply carbon dioxide to a greenhouse.SOLUTION: A container 10 is stored in an absorbing/desorbing agent 2 which causes equilibrated reaction accompanying absorption/desorption of carbon dioxide. A preparation mode and a supplementary mode are selectively switched. In the preparation mode, the outside air is made to flow into the container 10, and to contact with the absorbing/desorbing agent 2 so that the carbon dioxide in the outside air is absorbed by the absorbing/desorbing agent 2. In the supplementary mode, the gas in the container 10 is sucked by a suction means 30 so that the inner pressure of the container 10 is reduced compared to the preparation mode. Thus, the carbon dioxide is discharged from the absorption/desorption agent 2.
