The present invention relates to the use of 4-phenylbutyric acid, or a salt thereof, for improving plant resistance to pests, particularly to bacteria, viruses and nematodes, and for inhibiting hypersensitive cell death induced by such pests. The present invention also relates to the use of 4-phenylbutyric acid, or a salt thereof, as an antimicrobial agent for the prevention or treatment of plant diseases caused by phytopathogens.La présente invention concerne l'utilisation de l'acide 4-phénylbutyrique, ou l'un de ses sels, pour améliorer la résistance des plantes aux bioagresseurs, en particulier aux bactéries, virus et nématodes, et pour inhiber la mort cellulaire hypersensible induite par de tels bioagresseurs.
