PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article that enables not only an infant-raising person but also an infant wearing the absorbent article to easily distinguish between front and rear sides of the article when they take the article in their hands.SOLUTION: This development type disposable diaper 1, which comprises a front-side sheet 21, a back-side sheet 22 and an absorber 23, is divided into an anterior side part A, a dorsal side part B, and an under-groin part C. On the outer surface side of the back-side sheet 22, a picture 5, on which a character is disposed in a front view, is formed in a multicolored manner on the side of the anterior side part A, and a picture 6, on which a character is disposed in a back view, is formed in a single chromaticity color on the side of the dorsal side part B. The outline of the picture 6 on the side of the dorsal side part B is identical in shape and size to the outline obtained by reversing the outline of the picture 5 on the side of the anterior side part A.
