Disclosed is the use of a chromone or a mixture of chromones for the preparation of a medicament for preventing or treating a disease selected from the group consisting of: insulin resistance, glucose intolerance, hyperglycemia, metabolic syndromes, dyslipidemia, and hypertriglyceridemia, wherein said chromone or a mixture of chromones are selected from the group of compounds having the structure of formula (I) wherein the substituents are as disclosed in the description. Also disclosed is a composition comprising a compound of formula (I) and aloe gel powder and a method for preparing the composition.
