The present disclosure provides modified bacteria and modified peptidoglycan comprising modified D-amino acids compositions comprising the modified bacteria or peptidoglycan and methods of using the modified bacteria or peptidoglycan. Also provided are modified peptidoglycans conjugated to a molecule of interest via a linker.
