A method for changing the composition of fatty acids in the membranes of brain cells selected from the group consisting of: i) increasing the fluidity of the membranes of brain cells, ii) increasing the PUFA content in the membranes of brain cells, iii) increasing the content of LC-PUFA in the membranes of brain cells, iv ) a decrease in the ratio of n6 / n3 LC-PUFA in the membranes of brain cells, v) a decrease in the ratio of n6 / n3 PUFA in the membranes of brain cells, vi) an increase in the content of n3 PUFA in the membranes of brain cells, vii) an increase in the content of n3 LC-PUFA in the membranes of brain cells and viii) increasing the content of DHA in the brain cell membranes of sub of a human subject by introducing a nutritional composition containing 10-50% plant lipids on a dry weight basis or lipid spheres with a core including said plant lipids, wherein said lipid spheres have 1) a volume-weighted modal diameter of more than 1.0 μm, preferably from 1.0 up to 10 μm, and / or 2) a diameter of 2-12 μm in an amount of at least 45, more preferably at least 55% of the total volume of lipids. 2.
