Pharmaceutical compositions and methods for the treatment of malaria are presented. Such compositions and methods may target energy-sensing pathways of the malaria parasite, Plasmoclium, of parasite host cell, or both. The compositions, in certain aspects of the present invention, target a signalling pathway involving the host AMP-protein activated kinase (AMPK) and/or the parasite AMPK homologue, KIN, which controls parasite replication and virulence.La présente invention concerne des compositions pharmaceutiques et des méthodes de traitement de la malaria. De telles compositions et de tels procédés peuvent cibler des voies de détection de lénergie du parasite de la malaria, Plasmoclium, de la cellule hôte du parasite, ou des deux. Les compositions selon linvention, dans certains aspects, ciblent une voie de signalisation impliquant la protéine kinase activée par lAMP (AMPK) hôte et/ou lhomologue de lAMPK parasite, KIN, qui régule la réplication et la virulence du parasite.
