PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for suppressing weeds in which growth of weeds in the desired places such as greening control places and idled lands, in which weeds of the family Compositae, particularly Ambrosia trifida L. grow thickly, needing weeding is suppressed, greening can be promoted without accompanying dangerous work, maintenance and control are readily carried out and environmental load can be reduced, because herbicide, etc., is not used. SOLUTION: The method for suppressing weed in which growth of the weed in a desired places, in which weeds of the family Compositae grow thickly, needing weeding comprises planting stable plants capable of stably forming covering for surface soil in a state mixed with preceding plants having large covering rate to surface soil after planting the preceding plants or simultaneously with a time when the preceding plants are planted.
