A method for calibrating an analyte sensor, the method comprising the steps of: receiving sensor data from the analyte sensor, the sensor data comprising at least one sensor data point representative of an analyte concentration measurement in the host； converting the sensor data into calibrated data using a conversion function based on prior information, wherein the prior information comprises sensitivity and/or baseline information and is used to guide the conversion function； and further comprising receiving reference data from a reference analyte monitor, the reference data comprising at least one reference data point, wherein the reference data point is used in calculating the conversion function.
