The present invention is a use of octacosanol for cold resistance of fishes, which is applicable to cold resistance of fishes, among which Tilapia is taken as an example for the fishes. Tilapia are fed with octacosanol and when they get stressed due to low temperature, octacosanol protects the red blood cells to maintain normal functioning and supply energy necessary for handling environmental change so that the growth rate of Tilapia can be increased even in a low temperature environment. Thus, octacosanol is applicable to a use of cold resistance for fishes and can effectively increase the survival rate of fishes in a low temperature environment.本發明係一種二十八烷醇(octacosanol)作為魚隻抗寒之用途，係適用於魚隻抗寒，其中魚隻以吳郭魚為例，吳郭魚攝食二十八烷醇，當受低溫緊迫時，二十八烷醇可藉由保護紅血球使之功能正常與供給因環境變化所需的能量，而使吳郭魚於低溫環境中仍能提高成長率，因此二十八烷醇係適用於魚隻抗寒之用途，且二十八烷醇可有效提高魚隻於低溫環境之存活率。
