PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel marker for nephropathy.SOLUTION: The applicant finds that EG5 having a function of carrying a biological molecule can bind normal podocin and is present locally at a kidney tissue, and thus the EG5 can be a novel marker for nephropathy. There are provided: a method for inspecting the nephropathy using the EG5 as a marker； and a method for screening a therapeutic agent for nephropathy comprising the step of selecting a substance for enhancing mutual action between the EG5 and the podocin.
