The present invention relates to a process for treating an aqueous effluent comprisingat least one dissolved gaseous compound, for example carbon dioxide, consistingin at least partly separating said compound from said effluent, for the purposeof obtaining a treated aqueous phase depleted in said compound, in which process:(a) a rising liquid column of the aqueous effluent is established, by injectinginto and distributing in said column, at the bottom, a gaseous phase less richin said compound than the aqueous effluent, for example air or oxygen, said gaseousphase being distributed within said column in the form of bubbles, the volumeof which increases towards the top, by means of which, at the top, a mixed liquid/gasstream is obtained; (b) the mixed liquid/gas stream is separated into a liquidstream constituting the treated aqueous phase and a gaseous effluent streamenriched in said gaseous compound, characterized in that the mixed liquid/gasstream is separated under reduced pressure, by establishing a gaseous overheadbetween the liquid stream and the gas stream, and by drawing on the latter.
