A mixing chamber for an inhalation device has a substantially cylindrical orcylindroidal walland a longitudinal center axis. The mixing chamber includes an inlet openingat its upstream end, amixing chamber outlet opening at its downstream end, an injection zone foraerosol, a built-in ordetachable nebulizer extending from the top of the mixing chamber such as toprotrude into theinjection zone and to emit aerosol at or near the longitudinal center axis ofthe mixing chamber at anangle of 90°or an angle from 45° to 135° with respect tothe longitudinal center axis of the mixingchamber. The mixing chamber outlet opening is in a plane perpendicular to thelongitudinal centeraxis, and is positioned between the longitudinal center axis and the wall ofthe mixing chamberopposite of the position from which the built-in or detachable nebulizerextends into the mixingchamber.
