The present invention provides a shovel having an auxiliary handle wherein the shovel has a handle in an upper end of a shovel rod and a shovel blade in a lower end of the shovel rod. A concave groove is formed in a lower end portion of a shovel rod, a band member having a circular shape is joined to the concave groove a flange is formed and protruding upwardly on both ends of the band member, a fastening hole for a fastening means is formed in a lower part of the flange, an axis hole for an axis pin is formed in an upper part and a lower end of an auxiliary rod having an auxiliary handle in an upper end is axially fastened to the axis hole by way of the axis pin. The present invention allows a user to adjust height and rotation of the auxiliary handle formed in a lower end of the shovel rod so as to adjust the shovel fit for a user&primes body type, the auxiliary handle allows a user not to bend a waist forward too deeply and in parallel therewith, to work out muscles in the whole body without straining a waist, and shoveling is possible without using great strength and therefore, a work efficiency is improved.
