PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire having even more excellent torque transmission performance than a conventionally known guide wire provided with a core wire made of stainless steel, and having excellent shape retention performance in which the guide wire is less susceptible to permanent deformation even when bent within a blood vessel.SOLUTION: A guide wire is provided with: a core wire (4) having a proximal-end large-diameter section (20) and distal-end small-diameter sections (22, 24, 26) and a coil spring (12) mounted along the axial direction onto the outer periphery of the distal-end small-diameter sections (22, 24, 26) of the core wire (4). The core wire (4) comprises a wire material for which the amount of processing-induced martensite is 20-60 vol% obtained by subjecting a wire material of austenitic stainless steel to wire-drawing and straightening processing, and the warp angle of a leading-end portion imparted by winding is less than 5° when a tensile load of 150 gf is applied for ten seconds in a state where the distal-end small-diameter sections of the core wire (4) onto which the coil spring (12) has been mounted have been wound once along the outer periphery of a rod 20 mm in diameter.COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT【課題】ステンレス鋼からなるコアワイヤを備えた従来公知のガイドワイヤと比較して更に優れたトルク伝達性を有し、血管内で屈曲させたときでも永久変形が発生しにくい形状保持性に優れたガイドワイヤを提供すること。【解決手段】近位端側大径部20と遠位端側小径部22,24,26とを有するコアワイヤ4と、コアワイヤ4の遠位端側小径部22,24,26の外周に軸方向に沿って装着されたコイルスプリング12とを備えてなり、コアワイヤ4は、オーステナイト系ステンレス鋼の線材に伸線加工および真直加工を施して得られる、加工誘起マルテンサイト量が20~60体積%の線材からなり、コイルスプリング12が装着されているコアワイヤ4の遠位端側小径部を、直径20mmのロッドの外周に沿って1回巻き付けた状態で150gfの引張荷重を10秒間負荷したときに、巻き付けによる先端部分の反り角度が5°未満である。【選択図】 図2
