PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small endoscope system capable of easily switching an ordinary light observation and a special light observation.
SOLUTION: The endoscope system includes an insertion unit, a first emitting part mounted on the insertion unit for emitting a special light, a second emitting part for emitting an ordinary light mounted on a tip end of the insertion unit around the first emitting part, an observation optical system mounted on the insertion unit having an imaging unit for imaging the reflected lights of the special light and the ordinary light, an image signal generating unit for generating the image signal for an observation image at an observation site from the reflected lights of the special light and the ordinary light imaged by the imaging unit, a display part for displaying the observation image, a comparative determination unit for comparing the imaging value of the reflected light of the special light which is changed according to the relative distance between the tip end of the observation optical system and the observation site with the threshold to the imaging value, and a switching unit for switching the observation mode into either the observation mode of the special light or the ordinary light.
