PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in a driver wakefulness level and effectively maintain a wakefulness level by a driver wakefulness level maintenance device.SOLUTION: A driver wakefulness level maintenance device 10 includes: a sound acquisition part 16 for acquiring a sound in a vehicle room an awakening sound generation part 18 for adjusting the properties of the acquired sound so as to enhance a wakefulness level maintenance effect, and generating an awakening sound and an awakening sound reproduction part 20 for reproducing the awakening sound in the vehicle room. Furthermore, the driver wakefulness level maintenance device 10 includes an illumination intensity measurement part 22 for measuring the illumination intensity in the vehicle room, an awakening light generation part 24 for generating awakening light to enhance the wakefulness level maintenance effect based on the illumination intensity, and an awakening light irradiation part 26 for irradiating the awakening light in the vehicle room.
