A shed or housing for cooling of dairy cows or other animals is described. The method seeks to reduce the electricity or energy expended in cooling cows to reduce heat stress and maintain milk yield. The method uses water or other cooling fluid to reduce the temperature of the animals. The housing (1) has an entrance (3)； an exit (4)； a plurality of shower heads or cooling units (6) for spraying the animals and provided with fluid by a system of pipes (9)； and an arm, guide rail, or element (28) that either prevents or encourages the animals to proceed through the shed. The cooling units (6) are activated according to the position of the element (28) such that the cooling fluid is sprayed when animals are beneath them.
