PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide boron nitride powders for cosmetics that have more smoothly spreading properties at the time of application and more excellent hiding power as compared with conventional ones.SOLUTION: The hexagonal boron nitride powder is characterized by having an aspect ratio (major axis/thickness) of beyond 20, a mean particle diameter of 3 to 20 μm, a specific surface area of 1 to 10 m2/g, a graphitization index by the powder X-ray diffractometry of a primary particle of 2.0 or less, and a tap density of 0.5 g/cm3 or less.
