Disclosed is the acid addition lactic acid salt of (2,4-dihydroxy-5-isopropyl-phenyl)-[5-(4-methyl-piperazin-1-ylmethyl)-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl]-methanone, represented by general formula (1). The process for making the compound of formula (1) as well as processes for making the intermediates are also disclosed. Also disclosed is the use of the salt of the compound of formula (1) for treating a disease or condition comprising or arising from abnormal cell growth in a mammal； for treating cancer, pain, for preventing or reducing neuronal damage in a patient suffering from stroke, for the prevention or reduction of risk of stroke in patients at risk for stroke； for the prophylaxis or treatment of a viral infection or viral disease； for blocking or inhibiting viral replication in a host organism； for sensitizing malignant cells to an anticancer drug； for alleviating or reducing the incidence of resistance to an anticancer drug； for reversing resistance to an anticancer drug； for potentiating the activity of an anticancer drug.
