A tip cap for a syringe is provided, together with a syringe containing such a tip cap. The tip cap comprises an elastomer body and a barrier film, wherein the barrier film comprises an expanded fluoropolymer. The tip cap may provide a protective covering to a syringe needle. The barrier may inhibit materials from leaching from the elastomer material or from extraction of compounds from medicants by the elastomer. The tip cap is also readily removable.
