PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus which displays an observation image with a proper brightness maintained without regard to fluctuations of a lamp.SOLUTION: The endoscope apparatus which comprises a light source unit 22, including an electric discharge lamp 31 and an LED 38, detects the amount of light outputted from the electric discharge lamp 31, using a photosensor 32 at time intervals shorter than a 1 field/frame interval.
