The present disclosure provides targeting peptides and vectors containing a sequence encoding the targeting peptides that deliver agents to the eyes. The present inventors have discovered peptides that function to target agents, such as viral vectors, to eye cells. The present disclosure describes a method of using such novel peptides to target, for example, viral capsids to the cell type of interest.
