PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device which displays an image that makes it possible to grasp whether or not an acquired image is abnormal even while endoscopic examination is in progress and enables a user to easily recognize abnormality.SOLUTION: A return optical signal obtained by a scan type endoscope observing in a subject is mapped by a mapping part 43 to an area of size corresponding to an observation range in the scan type endoscope in a display part for displaying the image.
