An herbicidal composition containing synergistically effective amounts of: (A) pyridate or a salt thereof； and (B) at least one species of sulfonylurea based compound selected from the group consisting of flazasulfuron nicosulfuron trifloxysulfuron chlorimuron and alkyl esters thereof halosulfuron and alkyl esters thereof and salts thereof.
