The invention proposes an antiseptic composition for use as bone cement, inparticular anantiseptic polymethylmethacrylate bone cement. The composition can be curedand comprisesa pharmacologically tolerable salt of a monoperoxy dicarboxylic acid, wherebythe salt of themonoperoxy dicarboxylic acid can be dissolved from the composition in thepresence of water.Preferably, the salt of the monoperoxy dicarboxylic acid in the composition isused in the form ofa powder, whereby the powder has a mean particle size of not more than 250µm. Preferably,the salt of the monoperoxy dicarboxylic acid, in solution at room temperature,is not degradedwithin 5 min by the catalase enzyme.
