Apparatus and methods are provided for use with a patient (12) who has been assigned a treatment protocol. A sensor (30) senses at least one physiological parameter of the patient. A control unit (14) includes signal analysis functionality (90) that analyzes the physiological parameter and determines whether the patient has followed the treatment protocol. A user interface (24) generates an output to the patient that is indicative of (a) a correlation between the physiological parameter and non-compliance by the patient with the treatment protocol, the output being generated in response to the analysis functionality determining that the patient has failed to follow the treatment protocol, or (b) a correlation between the physiological parameter and compliance by the patient with the treatment protocol, the output being generated in response to the analysis functionality determining that the patient has followed the treatment protocol.
