PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and therapeutic agents for treating or managing acute coronary syndrome, particularly, unstable angina and acute myocardial infarction.SOLUTION: Provided is a therapeutic formulation for treating acute coronary syndrome comprising a therapeutic agent which specifically decreases or inhibits the activity of phagocytic cells and/or eliminates or diminishes the amount of phagocytic cells including but not limited to macrophages and monocytes, where the therapeutic agent is encapsulated, embedded or in a particulated form of 0.05-1.0 micron in size, and the therapeutic formulation is administered to a patient in need thereof in an effective amount to decrease the phagocytic activity.
