PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition and a method for treating an inflammation and an autoimmune disease.SOLUTION: Provided is a composition that contains a soluble B7-H4 (sH4) antagonist in an effective amount to reduce, inhibit or alleviate an inflammatory response in an individual, and a method for treatment or prevention of an inflammatory disorder and an autoimmune disease or disorder. It is known that a soluble H4 obstructs B7-H4 activity that includes activity of B7-H4 as an inhibitor of T-cell immunity. Interference of sH4 biological activity is an effective method for recovering the B7-H4 activity.
