The invention is directed to a method for preparing coated seed, to a coated seed obtainable by said method, and to the use of a wax in a seed coating composition.The method for preparing coated seed comprises- applying a seed coating composition to seed and,- directly thereafter contacting said coated seed with a powder formulation, wherein said powder formulation comprises a wax,wherein said coating composition comprises 0.5-50 % by weight of the coating composition of a component that provides tackiness such that the resulting coated seed is more tacky than a coated seed obtained with the same coating composition lacking the component that provides tackiness.
