An immunogenic composition that contains a combination of at least two polypeptides or nucleic acid molecules encoding the specified at least two polypeptides, where the specified at least two polypeptides are selected from the group consisting of: (i) a polymerase moiety containing at least 450 amino acid residues of a polymerase protein derived from a first HBV virus; (ii) a core portion containing at least 100 amino acid residues of a core protein derived from a second HBV virus; and (iii) a shell portion containing one or more immunogenic regions of 15-100 consecutive amino acid residues of an HBsAg protein derived from a third HBV virus. 2. The immunogenic composition according to claim 1, which is selected from the group consisting of (i) a composition comprising a combination of the specified polymerase part and the specified core part or a combination of nucleic acid molecules encoding the specified polymerase part and the specified core part; (ii) a composition comprising a combination of said core portion and said shell portion or a combination of nucleic acid molecules encoding said core portion and said shell portion; and (iii) a composition comprising a combination of said polymerase part, said core part and said shell part, or a combination of nucleic acid molecules encoding said polymerase part, said core part and said shell part. 3. An immunogenic composition according to any one of claims 1 and 2, wherein said first, second and third HBV viruses have different genotypes.
