PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a freezing apparatus that quickly vitrifies and freezes an object to be frozen such as cells by spraying flow including ultralow-temperature fine solid particles in freezing the object so as to make a cell survival rate higher in thawing, and a freezing method thereof.SOLUTION: A freezing apparatus that freezes an object to be frozen such as a cell has: a cryopreservation container 60 which houses a cell or the like as the object to be frozen; and a spraying part which continuously sprays a high-speed spraying flow including ultralow-temperature fine solid particles onto the cryopreservation container 60 to freeze the object to be frozen housed in the cryopreservation container.
