Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Positionierung eines Kollimatorsystems (KS) einer Röntgeneinrichtung (1). In einer angezeigten Vorschaubildaufnahme (V) wird ein Zielbereich als einzublendender Bereich markiert. Aufgrund der Markierungsdaten werden automatisch Kollimatorpositionswerte berechnet, die zur automatischen Positionierung der Kollimatoren verwendet werden. Desweiteren betrifft die Erfindung ein Bilderfassungsgerät und ein Produkt, bei dem die Kollimatoren aufgrund von Markierungsdaten automatisch positioniert werden.The method involves displaying a recorded preview image i.e. radiograph, of a patient (100) on a computer-based user interface of an X-ray system (1). A target area is labeled as a region in the displayed preview image by fading in a geometric object on the preview image. Collimator values of the patient are automatically computed based on the labeled target area under consideration of geometric parameters of a collimator system (KS) of the X-ray system. The collimator system is automatically adjusted by using the computed collimator values.
