Disclosed is a surgical sealant that can be sterilized without adding a radiation protective substance or the like, and that can be easily and safely manufactured. (1) A first agent comprising a gelatin derivative having a hydrophobic group bonded via an imino group, wherein the gelatin derivative has (a) a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 50,000. (B) the hydrophobic group is an alkyl group having 6 to 18 carbon atoms, and (c) the imino group / amino group (molar ratio) in the gelatin derivative is 1/99 to 30/70.
