605225 A valve block (610) for a backflushing and teat dip applicator system used in a milking station is disclosed. The valve block has a housing (613) with a chamber (619) into which a plurality of fluid inlets enter (614), controlled by a plurality of valves. There is a common outlet (637 Fig 6B) from the chamber and a spool (621)disposed in the chamber which can be moved between a milking position (Fig. 6C) and a backflushing position (Fig. 6D). In use the valves are provided for supplying multiple medias (air, water, and backflush fluids) through the common outlet. Most of the inlets communicate with a corresponding and dedicated block inlet (614a) that is controlled by its respective valve to permit entry of a predetermined fluid into a chamber through conduits (614b). One exception is the pass through inlet for the second air valve, which communicates with the lower bell portion (625) of the axial chamber at a position under the spool via passages (635a, 635b) so that pressurized air can force the spool into the backflushing position, when desired. The spool includes an upper valve head (626) and a lower valve head (628). The upper valve head and the lower valve head each define an annular groove in which seals (626a, 628a) are disposed, respectively. The seals and oppose each other to seal the axial chamber at their respective ends. A valve block spring (630) biases the spool toward the milking position. The valve block spring engages a seat (631) on the upper valve head and is contained within cap (633). An alignment rod (639) extending from the upper valve head of the spool fits in socket (641) formed in a cap to maintain proper alignment of the spool when moving between the milking position and the backflushing position. In the milking position the spool is forced by the valve block spring to engage the upper valve head seal with the walls of the axial chamber to seal the common outlet from the chamber with an end seal (627).
