Disclosed is a dual-layer rectal speculum (10) for use with colon hydrotherapy. The dual-layer rectal speculum (10) is formed with an inner hard layer and an outer soft layer to prevent patient discomfort during insertion and use. The dual-layer rectum speculum (10) comprises a main tube member (12) and an inlet tube (18). The main tube member (12) has a distal end (14) for insertion into a patient&rsquo；s rectum and a proximal end (16) for connection to a waste removal hose. A portion of the main tube member (12) comprises an inner hard layer and an outer soft layer. The inlet tube member (18) directs fluids into the main tube member (12). The inlet tube member (18) has a diameter which is less than a diameter of the main tube member (12). The main tube member (12) further comprises a measurement gauge which is visible through the outer soft layer which is transparent. The dual-layer rectal speculum (10) further comprises an obturator to facilitate insertion of the dual-layer rectal speculum (10) into a patient&rsquo；s rectum. The obturator comprises an elongated member having a tapered distal end capable of extending through the distal end of the main tube member (12).
