PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-propelled large intestine endoscope with an endless belt disposed to reduce the diameter in a part to be inserted into the large intestine as much as possible even if a space for disposing a guide pipe can not be secured within a soft insertion part.
SOLUTION: The self-propelled large intestine endoscope comprises the tubular soft insertion part 15 to be inserted into the large intestine, and the endless belt 17 disposed in a circumferential pathway along the outside and inside of a part of the tube wall of the soft insertion part 15. The endoscope also has a guide hook 39 to project by prescribed dimensions from the outer surface of the soft insertion part 15 along one of the outward and return pathways of the both-way circumferential path of the endless belt 17, and a guide pipe 41 extending along the outer surface of the soft insertion part 15 along the other return or outward path of the both-way circumferential pathway to guide the endless belt 17 in an inner aperture of the pipe. The diameter of the soft insertion part 15 is approximately equal to the diameter of an upper digestive tract endoscope.
