Disclosed are indolecarboxamide and benzimidazole carboxamide compounds of the general formula (I), where the substituents are as defined herein, examples being 5-(acetamidomethyl)-6-chloro-1-ethyl-N-(2,2,2-trifluoro-1-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]ethyl} -1H-indole-2-carboxamide and 6-chloro-N-1-dicyclopropyl-N-{ 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]ethyl} -1H-benzimidazole-2,5-dicarboxamide. Also disclosed are processes for the preparation thereof and the use of these compounds as insecticides and acaricides.
