PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an atlantoaxial braking apparatus which brakes A-Pinstability between C1 and C2, and can avoid the decrease of QOL due to the reduction of a cervical vertebra tunable region after an operation, and copes with lateroflexion, extension, flexing, turning, and coupling motion which are movements required for atlantoaxial joints.
SOLUTION: The shape of a C1 plate 10 and the shape of a C2 plate 20 are aligned, and both the plates are made to face each other. Posts 2R and 2L are respectively screwed in from a hollow section 16 side of the C1 plate 10 to the sides of respective hollow sections 24R and 24L of the C2 plate 20 through nuts 4R and 4L. The posts 2L and 2R are movable while being in contact with a sliding surface 14 (insert section), and there is a degree of freedom between the C1 plate 10 and the posts. The assembled atlantoaxial braking apparatus 1 is fitted on two pairs of right and left Vertex (R) screw systems which have been inserted in the C1 and the C2, and in which rods 36a and 36c have not been fitted.
