PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for imparting stress resistance to plants promoting growth of the plants even in such an environment as to cause various stresses on the plants. SOLUTION: The method for imparting stress resistance to plants comprises applying a plant-stress resistance-imparting agent composed of a compound represented by general formula 1 to the plants in a cultivation condition having a plant stress ratio of 111-200%: wherein R1 is a 10-22C hydrocarbon group, R2 is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or a 1-24C hydrocarbon group, and R3 is a hydrogen atom or a 1-24C hydrocarbon group.
