PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fundus observation apparatus by which both a state of a surface of a fundus and a state of deep layer tissues are grasped in detail.

SOLUTION: The fundus observation apparatus 1 includes a fundus camera unit 1A, an OCT unit 150, and an arithmetic control device and obtains a fundus image Ef and a tomographic image Gi. When an image region on the fundus image Ef displayed on a display part 240A is specified by an operational part 240B, an image processing part 230 forms a tomographic image G corresponding to the image region based on the tomographic image Gi and obtains the position of a prescribed layer of a fundus Ef in the tomographic image G. A control part 210 displays the fundus image Ef, a cross-sectional position image T showing the image region, the tomographic image G, and layer position images L1-L4 showing the positions of the prescribed layers on the display part 240A.
