A method and device for producing injectable foams, such as those used in the treatment of varicose veins. The method requires the independent delivery of a foamable liquid sclerosing agent and a suitable gas to a foam producing structure in which the liquid and gas are combined to produce foam. The device comprises: the foam chamber 31 with either a common inlet for liquid and gas or separate inlets 11,21； an outlet 36 for foam； a liquid pathway 10 in communication with the inlet； and a gas pathway 20 in communication with the inlet. The liquid pathway comprises a means 12 for delivering liquid through the liquid pathway independently of gas delivery through the gas pathway. In preferred embodiments, the delivery of liquid and/or gas is controlled with volumetric pumps 12,24, which may be of the peristaltic type, and valves. A waste chamber 35 may be present to receive initial poor-quality foam from the foam pathway 30, with flow controlled by a waste valve 34.
