PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which effectively improves workability in the dissolution of a water-soluble polymer compound in water without the necessity for delicate pH control.SOLUTION: The surface treatment method comprises treating the surface of a water-soluble polymer compound such as cellulose, a polysaccharide, or a derivative thereof with a cyclic acetal compound obtained by the reaction of a polyhydric alcohol with a compound having a plurality of formyl groups to improve the solubility of the water-soluble polymer compound in water. According to the surface treatment method, it is possible to effectively reduce the formation of unwetted polymer particles when the water-soluble polymer is thrown into water.COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT【課題】 微妙なpHの調整を必要とせず、効果的に水溶性高分子化合物の水への溶解時の作業性を改善する方法を提供する。【解決手段】 セルロース、多糖類及びこれらの誘導体等の水溶性高分子化合物の表面を、多価アルコールと複数のホルミル基を有する化合物との反応により得られる環状アセタール化合物で処理し、該水溶性高分子化合物の水への溶解性を改善する表面処理方法。本発明に係る表面処理方法によれば、水溶性高分子を水中に投入した時継粉(ママコ)の発生を効果的に抑制することができる。
