PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article excellent in the capability of preventing a liquid from returning and leaking.
SOLUTION: The absorbent article includes a substantially vertically long absorbent body having a liquid-permeable front surface sheet 10, a liquid impermeable or hardly permeable rear surface sheet, and a liquid-retaining absorber 30 located between the sheets. A pair of side leakage preventive parts 50 are formed on the skin contact side of both sides of the absorbent body. The front surface sheet 10 has a center area M with a number of regularly formed projections 6, located at the center in the width direction of the absorbent body, and a pair of side areas S and S located on both sides of the center area M. Projections 7 whose height is lower than the height of the projections M in the center area M are formed, or no projections are formed, in the pair of the side areas S and S. Each side leakage preventive part 50 covers at least part of each side area S in the width direction of the absorbent body, and the inner edge part 54 of each side leakage preventive part 50 is located outside an end position ME of the center area M.
