PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silvery white interference pigment with high gloss and a high-gloss interference pigment of bright interference color which are stable and easy to prepare.SOLUTION: The interference pigment based on a coated flake-form substrate comprises: (A) a layer of SiO2 having a layer thickness of 5-350 nm (B) a high-refractive-index coating composed of titanium dioxide, the coating having a refractive index n of >1.8 and (C) an interference system consisting of alternating high- and low-refractive-index layers having a layer alignment of TiO2-SiO2-TiO2 and optionally (D) an outer protective layer.
