[Problem] The objective of the present invention is to provide: a novel base that, after application to a skin surface, can rapidly form a coating film and moreover has mitigated skin irritation and occurrence of odors and an external preparation for skin. [Solution] The base is used in an external preparation for skin that administers an active ingredient transdermally, and is characterized by containing at least an acrylic-based synthetic polymer and a volatile oil, being liquid or in the form of an ointment prior to application to the skin surface, and after application, the volatile oil evaporating and forming a hydrophobic coating film of which the volatile oil is in the range of 0-60 wt% with respect to 100 parts by weight of the acrylic-based synthetic polymer.La présente invention a pour objet : une nouvelle base qui, après application sur une surface de la peau, permet de former rapidement un film de revêtement, et qui provoque en outre une irritation de la peau atténuée et une apparition dodeurs atténuée et une préparation externe pour la peau.
