So far, polysaccharides having immunostimulatory ability have been applied as feed additives for pharmaceuticals, health foods, livestock and fisheries, but few have sufficient immunostimulatory effects. Therefore, development of a composition that exhibits a high immunostimulatory effect at low cost has been demanded. The present invention provides a polysaccharide derived from an insect and having an immunostimulatory action, a composition containing the polysaccharide, and an immunostimulant containing the polysaccharide as an active ingredient. The polysaccharide of the present invention preferably has at least rhamnose as a constituent sugar.これまでの免疫賦活能を有する多糖は、医薬品や健康食品、畜産用や水産用の飼料添加物として応用されているが、十分な免疫賦活効果を示すものは少なかった。そこで、低コストで高い免疫賦活効果を示す組成物の開発が求められていた。本発明は、昆虫由来で免疫賦活作用を有する多糖類、及び、該多糖類を含有する組成物、さらに該多糖類を有効成分とする免疫賦活剤を提供する。本発明の多糖類は、構成糖として、少なくとも、ラムノースを有することが好ましい。
