A fish cradle comprising an open receptacle being configured to be selectively moved from an assembled to a stored configuration. The cradle comprising a base (1), a jaw-like frame and a rigid bracing member (10). The base (1) comprises a generally planar receiving area having a pair of opposing side edges defining a longitudinal axis, and a pair of opposing end edges. The base (1) is configured to be selectively folded about a generally central axis (2) orthogonal to said longitudinal axis. The jaw-like frame defining a pair of hood members and comprising a pair of substantially rigid, generally C-shaped frame members (5). Each frame member having a pair of spaced apart distal ends hingedly mounted at a respective side edge of said base (1). A flexible cover member is affixed between each frame member and the respective end and side edges of said base (1) to form respective end walls (6). The rigid bracing member (10) is releasably affixed between an edge of said base (1) and a frame member to retain the receptacle in said assembled configuration. The base (1) may be a flexible mat. Flexible wall members (9) may extend between each hood member.
