The dental handpiece (1) has a fluid supply channel (2) for guiding fluid from a proximal end (3) of the handpiece toward a distal end (4) of the handpiece, where the fluid supply channel includes a fluid outlet section (5) near the distal end of the handpiece. A piston (6) seals the fluid outlet section in the absence of a dental instrument (100) in a use position at the distal end of the handpiece, where the piston is pushed back by the dental instrument to allow the passage of the fluid in the use position of the dental instrument at the distal end of the handpiece.
